Puddling Clay
Puddling Clay
Puddling clay can be used as a lining for flood defence schemes. Puddling is a process which is commonly used to line ponds, lakes, canals and reservoirs, it can also be used to cap or line landfill sites. Using the puddling clay as a liner is an eco-friendly option as it is a much more natural method than using flexible pond liners which are also sometimes not as durable.

The process is quite simple, the clay needs to be compacted so the air bubbles are squeezed out, this then forms a watertight barrier, to get the best results a tractor, digger or a compactor will run over the surface.
